Our Story
Taylor's Helping Hands is the charitable organization envisioned by Teresa, Tom, and Tara Cothran after the tragic loss of their son and brother, Taylor E. Cothran. Teresa, Tom, and Tara hoped and prayed during the week of October 5 through October 11, 2007 that Taylor would wake up from the coma he was in as a result of a tragic accidental fall from his 5th floor dorm room window at the University of South Carolina. Taylor was 18 and a freshman at USC. He was a scholar, an athlete, a true friend, a champion of the underdog, a sincere heart, a practical joker, a loyal friend, a strong spirit, and so much more. The Cothran family had to say goodbye to Taylor on October 11th. They could not let that be the end of Taylor's legacy. They could not ignore the grief of others who shared their pain. They could not let Taylor's passion, love, energy, and empathy be lost. Taylor's Helping Hands are here to help you. Taylor's Helping Hands reach out to those in pain and those in need, just like Taylor did in his life.
